I've got a Presonus Firepod at home that connects with Snow Leopard quite nicely. I have never installed a driver for it. It doesn't show up as an interface in GarageBand or Audacity.
PreSonus could be a nice alternative for me. That's too bad, but it was worth a shot. I usually advise people to stay a year or so behind the technology curve for audio, just so that all of the drivers can catch up.
Audio companies always seem slow about updates to me. Good advice, WarriorBob. In the meantime, this guy claims to have the MBox working with Pd and Soundflower. Choosing an interface to match your software is an adventure in and of itself but is beyond the scope of this question. Hit me up in chat sometime if you want to talk interfaces, I've done that a couple of times.

You can't use an mbox unless Pro-Tools is loaded on the machine. That's how digidesign made it. Unless the mbox sees the Pro-Tools drivers, the computer won't work with it, even if you're trying to use it with Garageband or Logic. The computer will recognize that it's there, but the software won't interface with it. It works this way on a pc or a mac. How did you end up with an mbox and not have pro-tools? The standard way of achieving this is by owning PT which is what's supposed to be packaged with your mbox anyway. It doesn't mean you ever have to open PT, just that the drivers are there. It'll at least allow you to use Garageband and Logic. If you can get just the drivers elsewhere, that's news to me. Messages 1, If you need the link let me know. How can I fix this???? In garageband preferences choose the mbox as input and the computers built in output for output. Use a real or guitar track.
