Why does my panasonic tv dim

Looking with a flashlight I do see that the images are still being produced, so I am assuming it is the backlight …what I am not sure of if it is the main board or power board. I guess at this point I will just replace both as finding a service manual is next to impossible. I will try one ditch effort to find a manual as you suggested by the part number.

I was just hoping not to just keep throwing boards at the TV, but oh well….. Fix Your Stuff Community Store. Back Answers Index. Game mode i can't comment on, i know it changes the backlight still but to what extent i'm sure - i've yet to use the Xbox properly with the 37S10 and the 32LMD70 never had game mode. Hope that helps a little. Oh, and so far, really impressed with the 37S Close up there's more noise in the picture than on the 32LMD70, but that's p as apposed to p so that may be why - i'm getting near pixel mapping now.

I tried this in the store, but the TV could not handle x output from the laptop. This is the reason why I have not bought this TV. I tested the xbox through the VGA cable i used to use and even though it's capable of outputting x the TV will only accept x maximum through the VGA port. Sean Guest. Hello, I had the same problem. Replies 21 Views 2K. For Panasonic's, the CATS feature is a contrast and brightness adjustment based on ambient lighting in the room. I've never seen this feature, but as far as I can tell, it shouldn't be auto-dimming your screen constantly so I doubt that this is the reason for it.

One of my guesses is that you have a poor connection. I hooked up my HD cable through component connections and discovered that the picture had dimming, scanning, horizontal purple lines that were scrolling vertically.

I later realized that my component connection on the TV was defective. If you have another TV, hook up your cable to that TV to see if it has the same problems. You should also check your power source.

It could be a bad power outlet in your wall. Run it through a surge protector. I have exhausted every option and then a Google search brought me to a huge thread on a forum.

I'm not the only one with this issue. I came to find that the G20 suffers from Floating Black levels; I never knew what to call it before.

Panasonic has responded by saying that they meant to do this and this is a "bonus" feature that they added to the models. I could return it and try another one, but from what I'm hearing from others, it won't really make a difference. The only option is to give it up completely, hope that they will offer a fix through firmware or learn to ignore it. This should be a heads up to people looking to buy the G Plus it is hard to see with bright lights on in the retail store but get it home, set it up for nice black levels and watch at night and you will see your black levels dance.

I should note that, other than this annoying feature, the G20 still has the most amazing picture I have seen in a long time, especially for the price. Panasonic does have better black levels, but the Samsungs have much better color saturation. Meaning they aren't exaggerated and cartoonish. Try watching a darker movie like "The Dark Knight" and you'll see why.
